Meena

In Bangladesh a committed team of professionals and volunteers have developed a Meena concept to support poor and vulnerable women and children. Meena started as a spontaneous initiative, immediately after the Rana Plaza catastrophy in 2013, addressing the most dire needs of affected women and children. The emergency relief moved to medical support and psycho-social counselling, to education and income-generation, and included providing a safe haven. From there this particular concept took shape as the safe haven became a meeting place. And in this meeting place Meena offered recreation and artistic expression. As a result, the vulnerable women and children not only improved their chances in society by education, training and income-generation, Meena also gives them back their confidence and their belief in life.
